Confronting Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia

As part of its ongoing project on confronting anti-Semitism and Islamophobia, the Foundation held a joint project with London Enterprise Academy, Tower Hamlets. The entire class of 10-11 year-old students and their faculty members attended the project.

“We believe success at school provides a strong foundation for students to become engaged citizens who believe in themselves and can bring about positive change, for themselves and the society they live in.”

An introduction to Judaism was given by Rabbi David Lister, rabbi of Edgware United Synagogue who spoke about Abraham and his importance in Judaism.

Since the project was taking place during the Holocaust memorial Week, Mehri Niknam led an interactive session with the students talking about similarities of some of the causes which led to the genocide of the Muslims in Srebrenica and the Holocaust. The students discussed how to develop greater understanding and awareness of religious hatred, statements that promote it, and how to combat it.

The cooperation between the school and the foundation is ongoing.
